I have been organising pet transportation on a commercial basis for the past 8 years, and in that time I have come to realize that the best way to take the stress out of moving your pet is to understand the process. Pet Travel to the U.K.

Pet passport scheme USA & CANADA to the U.K.

The Pets Passport Scheme allows cats and dogs from qualifying countries to enter the UK without having to undergo quarantine – they have to fulfill certain criteria and are then free to travel.

Dogs and Cats MUST follow this procedure in this order to enter the UK without quarantine:

Microchipped (this must be done before anything else)
Rabies Vaccination (this must be kept up to date)
Blood Test (normally taken approx 4 weeks after the Rabies Vaccination)

Providing the blood results are ok the pets will be eligible to enter the UK 6 months after the Blood Sample was taken.

Once the Blood results have came in you can Apply for the Pets Passport from your vet or A Veterinary Certificate from the Ministry in the case of third countries.

Pets traveling outside the EU/ Qualifying Countries or who do not have the completed Passport or Certificate as stated above will be required to enter the UK under Quarantine Regulations.
